Bakelite table table telephone for use on automatic exchanges.  Similar to the GPO Telephone No. 332 Mark 1.

Maybe be labelled underneath as an ATE telephone.

Some of these telephones may be stamped 'Special' on the base.  This means that they have a different dial to the normal ATM Dial No. 24C with black finger plate.

The L11566A1 has an ATM Dial No. 24C with a chrome finger plate.
The L11566A2 has a GPO Dial No. 12 with a black painted finger plate.
