| Here are two diagrams - you have to make up your mind which is the correct one
for your telephone. Under each diagram are instructions on how to wire the
telephone up for the UK Plug and Socket system. The telephone in the
upper diagram can be identified by only having 7 terminals in the main block,
whilst the lower diagram has two sets of terminal blocks of which the left hand
block is labelled "A Terminals". Diagram

Using a standard BT line cord connect:-

White of line cord to terminal 5.

Red of line cord to terminal 1.

Green of line cord - spare - insulate.

Disconnect orange wire on 2uf capacitor (insulate with tape).

Blue of line cord to the connector on the end of the wire
shown leading from the capacitor.

If a 3.3k ohm resistor is fitted, then remove green wire
from terminal 5 and terminate on terminal 2.

Install 3.3k ohm resistor between terminals 2 & 5.

Check transmission and replace transmitter if bad and
always fit a Rectifier element across the receiver on terminals 4 & 6. Click here for more information.

This telephone has two block terminals and the left hand block in named "A
Terminals".

Using a standard BT line cord connect:-

Connect a 3.3k resistor to terminals A6 and A7.

Connect White of line cord to terminal A6.

Remove strap between terminals 4 & 7.

Connect Red of line cord to terminal 7.

Ensure that terminals A2 and A3 are strapped together.

Connect Blue of line cord to terminal A2.

Connect Green of line cord to terminal 6.

Fit a Rectifier element across the receiver on terminals 1 &

Test phone and if transmission is bad / noisy / crackly
then short out the transmitter on terminals 2 and 5. If the noise
goes then the transmitter will need replacing.
