A standard German Post Office (Reichspost) design, this telephone was imported before the war by a number of firms who offered Siemens PAX systems. The case is made of pressed steel, with a diecast mazak cradle (which being quite brittle, is easily damaged and can also suffer from the well-known mazak disease), The handset is of Bakelite. The dial is generally locked internally so that it can only be rotated when the cradle is in the up position. This design was made for the Reichspost by most German manufacturers but only the Siemens product was used in Britain. The 28 in the designation W28 refers to the year of introduction.
