PST WIRING FOR No's 311, 312 & 366

When removing the case - undo the two screws and pull them towards you as far as they will go.  The case then opens on the hinge and the screws do not foul any components or wiring.

Wiring a Siemens 311 or 366 (non-ASTIC version)
To wire a Type 311 or 366 to the UK telephone socket system follow these instructions.  It is illegal to connect unapproved apparatus to any public network.

1. Disconnect one wire from the capacitor (the grey square component to the right of the) and insulate the end.
2. Connect a 3k resistor in place of the wire strap that is fitted between L1 and E (BTC) on the base plate terminal block.
3. Connect the white lead of a standard telephone line cord to L1.
4. Connect the red lead of a standard telephone line cord to L2.
5. Connect the blue lead of a standard telephone line cord to C.
6. Insulate the green lead of the telephone cord.

Wiring in directly
If you do not want to use a telephone line cord, but wish to wire the telephone directly into house wiring using telephone cable (6 wire) then follow these instructions:

1. Wire L1 to socket connector 5 using Orange/White of the cable.
2. Wire L2 to socket connector 2 using Blue/White of the cable.
3. Wire C to socket point 3 using White/Blue of the cable.

If you wish to use the telephone without the bell - because old mechanical ringers can sometimes cause problems - then leave out the resistor and wire strap.

It may also be desirable to also modify the telephone as recommended in the section on how the convert to PST .

Siemens Universal Neophone 312

To wire a Type 312 to the UK telephone socket system follow these instructions.  It is illegal to connect unapproved apparatus to any public network.

1. Remove existing line cord (if fitted).
2. The Bellset should remain wired to the phone as per the 312 diagram.
3. Remove one wire from the capacitor (square grey box on the bellset) and insulate.
4. Insert 3.3k resistor between Bellset L1 and E.
5. Terminate the white wire of the line cord on Bellset L1.
6. Terminate the blue wire of the line cord on Bellset C.
7. Terminate the red wire of the line cord on Bellset L2.
8. Insulate the green wire of the line cord.
9. Connect the rectifier element across telephone terminals 5 and 6.
