As characteristic as its predecessor, this telephone is distinguished by its flat top, into which the handset is recessed and the sloping front. Introduced in 1952 (black only), it was restyled in 1958 and again in 1965 (when it was named the E3). The green and ivory colour scheme came with the redesign of 1958.
Colours:
Black, grey or pastel green with ivory transmitter and receiver
cups.
Users:
PAX systems in offices and factories installed by General
Telephone Systems Ltd and the Birmingham Telephone Company. The
London ITV contractor, Associated Rediffusion Ltd, (Television
House, Kingsway, London) was one such user in the late 1950s.
