With the continuing shortage of new vehicles after the war, the GPO were forced to purchase second hand, ex military vehicles from the Ministry of Supply to cope with the expansion requirements of telephone services. This six wheeler is a reconditioned Leyland Retriever fitted with a new cab and new dropside bodywork.
