This Foden DG, Gardner engined 6 wheel truck was originally used by the Armed Services during the war as a GS or general purpose supplies truck, moving equipment between Army bases and battlefronts.  It was not armoured in any way.  A large number of these Foden trucks were supplied to the Army and with the shortage of new vehicles after the war, the GPO bought eight to work in their Supplies Division.  The Foden lorries were overhauled mechanically and repainted, fitted with standard road wheels and tyres, but apparently retained some parts of their original bodies.
