This is a form of telephone for use on existing telegraph and block signalling circuits.

During the past few years we have directed our attention to the problem of designing apparatus which will permit of the application of telephones to existing telegraph and block signalling circuits of relatively short length, such as are usually met with on railway lines.

The result of our experiments is the " Phantophone," an instrument which is made in two distinct patterns, to suit the two sets of conditions generally met with, viz:-

(a) The connection of a telephone circuit to a single-line telegraph or block signalling circuit. (Phantophone List No. T 714A.)

(b) The connection of an earthed telegraph circuit to a metallic loop telephone circuit. (Phantophone List No. T 720A.)
