BELLSET No. 42


Used on Boxes Coin Collecting No. 17.

This was a field trial item that used a fly lead with plug and socket to connect to the Mechanism No. 17.

This design would allow the coin box mechanism to be tested on site easily as the mechanism would still be in circuit when swung out to expose the Bellset.

Note the socket to the lower right - the mechanism had a short, plug ended cord
that connected to this socket

 

Part of GPO Specification S319 states the following:-
An additional item which is not an included part of a Box, Coin-Collecting, No.17A - complete, but which will form part of the
latch-in type plug & socket, Coin box is a Bell-Set No.42.

The construction of this item to be as follows:-
A P.O. Bell-Set No.33 to be obtained from P.O. Factory repaired stock.  Modify in accordance with P.O. Drawings MS 6669 and 6670 and Messrs H.T.A. piece part drawing numbers:-
9/29 - Cover for socket
9/31 - Contact Block
9/206-210 - Mounting bracket & locking device.

Details of wire and wiring between Bell Set terminals and the socket, and latch-in type plug and the spring set on the mechanism
to be as specified on P.O. Diagram N1166.

The plug and socket tags to be numbered on one side of the tag rows in accordance with P.O. Drawing MS 6670.
