BT Digital Voice (DV)
How to backup contact information

The Digital Voice DECT handsets have the ability to store contact names and numbers, but please beware that this information is stored on the Smart Hub and not on the phone.  This causes a problem if you either change or default the Smart Hub as the stored information will be lost.

This page describes how to backup the contact information.

Back up and restore your Digital Voice contacts
To do so, you need to export a file containing your contacts from your BT Smart Hub Manager:-

  1. Open a web browser on your PC and type either 192.168.1.254 or http://bthomehub.home into the address bar.

  2. Press Enter and sign into your hub using the admin password (you'll find this on the back of the Smart Hub).

  3. When your Hub Manager opens - select Phone

  4. Then select Contacts.

  5. Click 'Export' to back up your contacts list to your PC as a VCF (vCard) file.

If you have had to replace or reset your Smart Hub, you can restore your saved contacts by:-

  1. Selecting - Phone.

  2. Selecting - Contacts.

  3. In the import section click on Browse to select the file, then press Import.

This method also lets you add your Google Contacts to your Smart Hub, so you can access contacts from your Android phone on your Digital Voice phone.

Go to https://contacts.google.com in your PC browser, click the Export arrow in the top-right corner and select 'vCard (tar iOS Contacts') - even though it's for Android.  Click 'Export' to save a VCF file then import it into your BT Smart Hub Manager.

To export contacts from your iPhone, sign into iCloud in your -browser and choose Contacts, then Export vCard'.
