UNITS, TELEX

This equipment was the interface between the teleprinter and line. It had control switches and a dial in many cases.

Unit, Telex No. 1
Subscribers dialling unit for telex station with teleprinter only.
This unit is used at stations requiring a teleprinter only and may be fitted on a subscriber's own office furniture. It is completely self-contained, with connexions only to the line, earth and an a.c. mains supply. Where the mains supply is d.c., a Power-unit No. 47A is needed, or a Power-unit No. 47B and a Dynamotor No. 22. Where the teleprinter has an a.c. motor and the mains supply is a.c. at other than 230-240V, a Power-unit No. 45A (auto-transformer) is needed. Where the teleprinter has a d.c. motor, a rectifier must be fitted. Functional tests and fault location are carried out by manipulating test links and by using a Tester No. 114C.
