This instrument is specially suitable for private installations, such as works, warehouses, hospitals, and public buildings. The case is of matt polished hardwood and is fitted with a 2000ohm polarized ringer, anti-side-tone induction coil, and an Alnico magnet generator. All terminals are enclosed and the Bakelite micro-telephone is suspended from a detachable switch hook.

N2201 superseded the N2200.

These telephones require a 3v battery for transmission purposes.

The N2201A was used in New Zealand, their Telephone H1488.  It is fitted with a 1000ohm ringer.

MINING TYPE
Certified Safe for Mine Surface use Under Cover Certificate T/Tel. 66.

This instrument has the same appearance as that illustrated above, but is designed and equipped for mine work, and has been approved by the Mines Department as intrinsically safe, and may, therefore, be connected with the underground circuits. In common with other certified apparatus its connection and use is governed by the Telephone and Signalling Order S.R. & O. 1938-1407. It is intended solely for use on the surface and under cover, as in offices, etc., where an ironclad telephone is out of place. It is not suitable for use below ground or in exposed positions.
