HANDSET No. 2

This handset uses the same mouldings as the Handset No. 1 except an aperture is milled out of the handset grip to accommodate a transistorised amplifier.  A plate is fitted to cover the aperture made on the lower side of the hand grip and the amplifier is fixed to this plate.  A volume control protrudes from this panel.

The amplifier draws it's current from the transmitter current.

Introduced in 1957, but probably only for trail purposes as the lightweight handset was intruded circa 1959.
