KEY, PILLAR No. 1


Originally made to release the top of the light fittings installed on top of Police Posts and Kiosks.  It was also used later to secure the doors of street Cabinets and Pillars.  All the above used triangular headed bolts for security.

In the end of the Key, Pillar No. 1 is a triangular hole.

The first key was made with a wooden handle and had no tommy bar.

Called the Tool, Instrument No. 243 when introduced circa 1933 and was redesigned in 1951.
