BRUSHWOOD CHIPPER (Experimental)

Application
For on the spot disposal of timber during tree cutting operations.

General description
The chipper is mounted on a two-wheel trailer chassis. A front retractable leg with steel castor wheel and a rear adjustable post are provided. The trailer is fitted with over-run brakes and a parking brake which is lockable in the 'on' position.

The chipper consists of a 9.5in. diameter cutter head mounting four chrome steel cutter blades equally spaced round the head. A hardened tool steel bed knife is anchored to the chipper main frame. A special feature of the chipper is a spring activated feed plate which automatically adjusts itself to large or small timber.

The unit is powered by a petrol driven Ford 4-cylinder heavy duty industrial engine developing 48b.h.p. at 2,800r.p.m. The cutter head which is accurately machined and carefully balanced is belt driven and runs at 2,300r.p.m.

The wood chips may be discharged directly into hedgerows where this is permissible or bagged by means of the bagging unit provided. A two position throttle control and an emergency stop button are mounted on the feed apron. The feed apron is large enough to permit a quantity of brushwood to be fed into the chipper with a minimum of trimming. The apron is hinged and can be folded up during transportation.
