CABLE LASHING MACHINE (LIGHT DUTY TYPE)

Application
The machine is designed for erecting aerial cables not exceeding one inch in diameter on a prepared suspension wire.

General description
As with the well known Mark III Neale type Lasher (see E.I. TOOLS & TRANSPORT, Mech. Aids, M1005) the machine consists of two main parts:-
A carriage which traverses the suspension wire on the mono rail principle and a body which rotates about the carriage carrying a spool of wire which lashes the cable to the suspension wire.

The machine is provided with various rollers and guides to lead the cable into close proximity with the suspension wire whilst the motion of the machine drives the rotating body carrying the spool of lashing wire and thus lashes the cable to the suspension wire.

The machine is motivated manually from the ground by means of a towing rope and harness.

The form of the lashing applied by the machine to bind the cable to the suspension wire is a simple helical binding applied with a layer or pitch of 13-15 inches.

The lashing wire normally used is 14 S.W.G. (0080") heavily galvanized soft steel wire and the machine can carry sufficient of this wire to continuously lash spans slightly over 70yds. in a length.

Special layer wound coils of lashing wire to fit the machine are obtainable from the manufacturers of the machine.

Dimensions
Overall length of the machine 12in. and 11in. tall.

Weight 15 lb. (without lashing wire).

Cost
£57 plus £2. 6s. 0d. for canvas carrying bag.
