These were used for transporting heavy poles the short distances that are necessary on the work, a simple but substantial pole cart is provided. It is provided with four pins to control the position of the poles on the cart, holes being provided to fit the pins as desired.

Fitted "A" poles are sometimes too wide to be taken on the ordinary pole cart, and an "Adapters for Carts, Pole" consisting of iron-bound ash beams bolted to the back and front of the cart through the holes normally occupied by the corner pins, are used to provide the additional width. The corner pins are fitted near the ends of these adapters as shown in the picture below.

When dealing with light poles, transport can often be provided satisfactorily by one of the ordinary carts which can carry tools, &c., at the same time, and working parties need not be burdened by the addition of a pole cart to their equipment.
