OHMMETER No. 12

The Ohmmeter No. 12A is a portable mains-operated instrument designed to test, in accordance with POWER, General, C 3003, the loop impedances of phase to earth fault paths in E.L. & P. installations.  The ohmmeter is supplied complete with two test leads and four mains leads.  Four separate mains leads are provided so that the instrument can be used to test or be supplied from any socket-outlet normally available in P.O. premises.  The leads are fitted with two-pole and earth-pin plugs rated at 15 amp, 13 amp, 5 amp and 2 amp to B.S. 546 or B.S. 1363 as applicable.  The ohmmeter will operate correctly on 200-260V single-phase 50 C/S supplies.  It will also operate on three-phase supplies over the corresponding range of voltage where a neutral is not available. As the accuracy of the instrument is affected by the supply voltage a voltmeter is included and the voltage selector switch should be set to its reading.
