Ohmmeters No. 2, are intended for the measurement of insulation resistance
etc. where Ohmmeters No. 1 are not suitable. The movement is of
cross-coil type. A constant speed hand-driven generator and special
slipping clutch are incorporated which enables a steady reading to be
obtained on conductors having considerable electrostatic capacity. The LINE terminal has a guard ring but no GUARD terminal is fitted. There are two types; 250 volts and 500 volts. Ranges:- The 250v model is scaled 0-50 megohms and infinity. The 500v model is scaled 0-100 megohms and infinity. Specification - D1479. In 1932 two manufacturers supplied these Ohmmeters. Ohmmeter No. 2 250v Evershed & Vignole's "Megger Insulation Tester". Catalogue No. 54007. Constant pressure generator, output of 250V at 160 r.p.m. Scaled 0-50 megohms and infinity.
