Telephone Features

 

Feature Button Descriptions

         Auto Answer/Mute Button
Used for extension auto answer or it turns the
microphone off during a conversation.

         Auto Dial/Store Button
Used for System Speed Dialing or for storing
program changes.

         CONF (Conference) Button
Used to establish a three-party conference.

         Flash Button
Sends an External Feature Access signal to the central office or to a host PBX to access their system features. If a PBX is not being used, this button can be used to disconnect the current call and start another call without
requiring that you hang up.

         Flexible CO Button
Used to seize the CO line or access one of several features.

         Function (F1 through F10) Button
Used to perform the corresponding displayed function or operation.

         FWD/DND (Call Forwarding/Do Not Disturb) Button
Used to program the Call Forwarding feature or set the Do Not Disturb (DND) feature.

         Hold Button
Used to place a call on hold.

         Intercom Button
Used to make or receive extension calls.

Used to call back the message sender.

         Monitor Button
Used for handsfree dialing operation.

         Pause Button
Inserts a pause in speed dial numbers or in other numbers.

         Program Button
Used to enter into Station Programming mode and to exit from Station Programming mode.

         Redial Button
Used for Last Number or Automatic Redialing

         SHIFT Button
Used to alternate the cue of Soft button functions.

         Soft (S1 through S3) Button
Used to perform the function or operation that appears on the bottom line of the display.

         SP-PHONE (Speakerphone) Button
Used for handsfree speakerphone operation.

         Transfer Button
Transfers a call to another extension or to an external destination.

         Volume Control Button
Used to adjust the volume of the handset receiver, headset, ringer and speaker; it also adjusts the display contrast.

         Dial 1-7 + desired number (such as phone number or feature number, if required).

Making Calls

Allows you to make a call to another extension.

         Off-hook

Outward Dialing
Allows you to make a call to an outside party using one of the following line access methods;

         Dial 9 or 81-88 or press a CO button
-9 : Line Access, Automatic
-81-88 : Line Access, CO Line Group
-CO : Line Access, Individual

Helpful hints for Handsfree operation:

         If it is difficult to hear the other party's voice - raise the sound level using the Speaker Volume Control.

         If the other party has difficulty hearing you - lower the sound level.

         Absorbing echoes - Use this unit in a room which has curtains and/or carpeting.

         To avoid missing part of the conversation - If you and the other party speak at the same time, parts of your conversation will be lost. To avoid this, speak alternately.

Absent Message Capability - There are nine flexible absent messages available. If you select a message, it will be shown on the display of the calling party's telephone. If you are required, messages 7, 8 and 9 can be assigned through System Programming.

Account Code Entry - Used to identify outside calls, for accounting and billing purposes. If required, you can be forced to enter an account code before dialing.

Standard Operation - When hearing dial tone or during a conversation with an outside party;

         Dial 49 (or press Account button).

         Enter account code + #.

Display Operation (for KX-T7230C/KX-T7235C) - When hearing dial tone or during a conversation with an outside party;

         Press ACCNT (S3) button.

         Enter account code + #.

Alternate Calling--Ring/Voice - Allows you to select ring or voice calling when making an intercom call. In Ring-Calling mode, you can call the other party with a ring tone. While in Voice-Calling mode, you can talk to the other party immediately after a confirmation tone.

Standard Operation - When calling an extension;
To change to Ring or Voice mode

         Dial * button.

Call Forwarding - Automatically transfers incoming calls to another extension or to an external destination. The following types are available:

Call Hold - Allows you to hold an extension or an outside call.

         Press HOLD button

Call Waiting - Informs you with three beeps that there is a call waiting.

To talk to a new caller, terminating the current call.
While hearing a call waiting tone:

         Press the flashing CO or INTERCOM button

To talk to the new caller, holding the current call.

Conference - allows you to make a three-party conference.

While having a conversation;

         Press CONF (CO) button

Do Not Disturb (DND) - Allows you to prevent other parties from disturbing you. Your extension will not receive extension or outside calls.

Do Not Disturb (DND) Override - Allows you to call an extension even though Do Not Disturb (DND) is set.

Electronic Station Lockout - Allows you to lock your extension so that other users cannot make outgoing outside calls at your extension.

Paging - Provides an announcement (page), through the built-in speaker of the telephone or by the external speakers

External - Page through all the external pagers simultaneously. Page to a particular group of extensions using the built-in speakers.

Feature Button Description

  1. INTERCOM - used to originate or receive an intercom call.
  2. CONF (Conference) - allows you to perform a three-party conference.
  3. REDIAL - when pressed, the last dialed number is used to place an outgoing call.
  4. FLASH - sends an External Feature Access signal to the central office or to a host PBX to access the system features. If a PBX is not being used, this button can be used to disconnect the current call and start another call without requiring that you hang up.
  5. Liquid Crystal Display - shows the date, time, dialed number, name or duration time.
  6. PF (Programmable Feature) - These buttons can be programmed as one touch buttons for speed dial or system features.
  7. Flexible CO Buttons - used to originate or receive an outside call.
  8. MESSAGE - used to call back the message sender.
  9. FWD/DND (Call Forwarding/Do Not Disturb) - used for setting or cancelling the Call Forwarding or the Do Not Disturb feature.
  10. TRANSFER - transfers a call to another extension or to an external destination.
  11. PAUSE - used to insert a pause in programmable numbers.
  12. AUTO DIAL/STORE - used for dialing system speed dial numbers and for storing the results of a programming operation.
  13. AUTO ANSWER/MUTE - used to automatically answer an intercom call or disable the microphone during handsfree operation.
  14. SP-PHONE (Speakerphone) or MONITOR - allows you to originate or receive a call without using the handset. The SP-PHONE button enables handsfree conversation.
  15. HOLD - used to place a call on hold.

 

 

 


 

Station Programming

In/Out of the Programming Mode

Off-hook: Lift the handset or press the SP-PHONE/MONITOR button.
On-hook: Replace the handset or press the SP-PHONE/MONITOR button.

For KX-TD816/1232:
Entering - when telephone is idle and on-hook;
Press PAUSE button and dial 99.
Exiting - press PAUSE button.

For others:
Entering
- when the telephone is idle and on-hook;
Set the MEMORY switch to "PROGRAM" (found on back side of phone) .
Exiting - set the MEMORY switch to "SET".

Note: When programming the PF or DSS button on the DSS console, press the button on the DSS console and enter the numbers with the paired telephone.

It is necessary to enter programming mode for station programming.

Flexible Button Assignment - CO, DSS, or PF buttons can be changes into a one-touch button so that you can call the desired party or access a feature with one touch.

-Storing the extension number into a CO or DSS button:

         Press the desired CO or DSS button.

         Dial 1.

         Enter the extension number.

         Press STORE button.

-Storing a phone number or feature number into a CO, DSS, or PF button:

         Press the desired CO, DSS or PF button.

         Enter the desired number (line access code is requred for an outside call)

         Press STORE button.

Automatic Callback Busy (Camp-On) - allows you to be informed when the called party or the selected CO line is idle. When you anwer the callback ringing, the dialed extension is called or the selected CO line is seized.

         9 For KX-T30810/61610

         6 For others

         confirmation tone is heard

         On-hook

Going off-hook will not cancel the Camp-On setting. To cancel, dial the cancel code.

Cancelling

  1. Lift the handset
  2. Dial the feature number (46)
  3. You hear a confirmation tone and then a dial tone
  4. Hang up

Busy Station Signalling (BSS) - If call waiting has previously been set, you can inform a busy extension that you are waiting. The called party hears beeps.

If busy tone is heard:

         Dial 1.

         Wait for an answer

Call Forwarding Do Not Disturb(DND) - Allows you to enable or disable the Call forwarding or Do Not Disturd(DND) function by pressing the FWD/DND, the most recent setting is enabled. You can also alternate the mode by pressing the FWD/DND button. The lighting patterns of the FWD/DND are as follows:

Off: Both function are cancelled.
Red On: DND mode.
Flashing red slowly: FWD mode.

Setting/Cancelling Call Forwarding or DND

When the handset is on the cradle and the SP-PHONE button is off:

  1. Press the FWD/DND button.
    Either function is enabled.
  2. Press the FWD/DND button again
    The function is cancelled.

Alternate the settings when both Call Forwarding and DND are set

When the handset is on the cradle and the SP-PHONE is off:

  1. Press the FWD/DND button.
    Either function is enabled.
  2. Press the FWD/DND button again
    The other setting is enabled
  3. Press the FWD/DND button again
    Both functions are cancelled.

Conditions:

         The extension number and the name of the original extension appears on the display of the destination extension (Call Forwarding).

         Both function can be set at the same time, but cannot work at the same time.

         You can call the original extension from the Call Forwarding destination extension.

         DND works for paging - group and an incoming call from the doorphone.

Call Hold - allows you to place a call on hold. The call can be retrieved from any extension.

Walking COS - allows you to make a call using all of the Class of Service (COS) functions of your extension from another extension.

Making a call
At another extension:

  1. Lift the handset or press the SP-PHONE/MONITOR button
  2. Dial the feature number (47)
  3. Enter the Walking COS password
  4. Dial our extension number
    -
    You hear a confirmation tone and then a dial tone
    -The display shows: COS of Exxxx (your extension number)
  5. Dial the phone number
    -
    You must dial the line access code (9 or 81 through 88) or press a CO button first when calling an outside party
