POLICE PILLARS/KIOSKS - DUNDEE

Below are pictures of a Dundee Police Kiosk.  This Kiosk is now located on the other side of the Tay, in Newport.  No other Kiosks are known to exist in the area.  The Kiosk looks like it is constructed of sheet steel, riveted together.

The grille for the loud speaking telephone is exactly the same as the ones found on Edinburgh police Kiosks, but all else is different.

The sepia photograph shows such a Police Kiosk and a telephone Kiosk No. 6 outside Dundee’s central railway station (and the ferry terminal is at the end of the street, backing onto the Tay).  A mechanical horse can also be seen heading towards the camera.

Only the sliver of the building on the extreme left still remains - everything else has been removed and replaced, once in the 1960s and, again, in the 2010-20s and still ongoing.
