SIEMENS BROTHERS
REPLICA TELEPHONES

Wooden cased Replicas

Siemens Brothers did make wooden wall telephones and the small models with dials were are based on parts made in the UK and generally the same as the GPO parts used on most wooden telephones.  The cases were the same as the GPO Bellset case.

The telephone above is a Siemens Brothers Model Q3585.  All the metalwork is painted black, the transmitter is a standard transmitter on a pressed steel support.

The dial is a standard UK type dial and the receiver is the standard Bell receiver.  All cords are cloth.  Produced in the late 1920's.

The phones below are reproductions and an easy way to see if they are legitimate would be to view the internals.  I would expect to see plastic wiring and modern components in the reproduction telephones.

The parts that are incorrect are as follows:-

  • All components either made of brass or painted brass in colour.

  • Cords are plastic.

  • Dial is not the usual UK standard, with the finger stop not close to the number "0" - probably Indian.

  • The case is not correct - fancy or sculptured.

  • Bell receiver is wrong.

  • Dial labels look wrong.

  • Can you imagine a carved case in the late 1920's!

These are probably produced in India and will probably actually work.  But they are not antiques and therefore should not fetch an antique telephone price.
