TELEPHONE No. 69

Wooden wall telephone, with Magneto bell, for use on CBS No's 1, 2 & 3 systems.

This telephone was inherited National Telephone Ltd stock and has the standard N.T. switch hook mechanism.

Originally the GPO named many N.T.C. telephone models as "Instruments, Subscribers, Wall, N.T. No's 1, 2, 8, 11 and 12, without Generator, Modified" and later rewired and renamed some them as the Telephone No. 59 or Telephone No. 69.  The Telephone No. 69 can be identified as it will have the generator hole filled or have a cover plate fitted.  The Telephone No. 59 has a generator.

Lightning arresters are also fitted and these can be seen just above the handset.

Behind the logo at the top of the telephone are 5 terminals.

It is similar to Telephone No. 59 except that the generator is omitted.
