This telephone was inherited National Telephone Ltd stock and has the standard N.T. switch hook mechanism. Originally the GPO named many N.T.C. telephone models as "Instruments, Subscribers, Wall, N.T. No's 1, 2, 8, 11 and 12, without Generator, Modified" and later rewired and renamed some them as the Telephone No. 59 or Telephone No. 69. The Telephone No. 69 can be identified as it will have the generator hole filled or have a cover plate fitted. The Telephone No. 59 has a generator. Lightning arresters are also fitted and these can be seen just above the handset. Behind the logo at the top of the telephone are 5 terminals. It is similar to Telephone No. 59 except that the generator is omitted. Fitted with Telephone No. 28 as the handset. Made by British Ericsson. Found in the 1913, 1914 and 1915 Rate Books. Telephone includes (1928):- Circuit Diagram - N169. Circuit Diagram - CBS 293 and CBS 637. The picture below
