Introduced
in 1932, this
is a Bakelite cased table telephone with (Telephone No. 1/194) or without
(Telephone No. 194) a tray for subscribers
personal directory. It
was intended for use with Repeater, Telephonic No. 9A which was
supplied for the hard of
hearing on System C.B.S. No.1, C.B.S. No. 2, C.B.S No. 3 and
Magneto circuits (or on long CB/Automatic exchange lines).
Telephone No. 1/194 was used with
either a Bellset No. 5 or 15
in L.B. areas.
This telephone requires a Bellset and batteries to work.
Terminal nuts
are 4BA (Part No. 1/SNU/51).
The frame that supports the switch hooks, also has terminals and
contact springs attached. The contact springs came with either
one contact or two contacts per spring. This telephone could use
either - the parts numbers are as follows:-
Frame - Part No.
1/SSW/2 - one contact per spring (Springset Part No.
1/SSP/707).
Frame - Part No. 2/SSW/2 - two
contacts per spring (Springset Part No.
1/SSP/710).
The handset was a Telephone No. 184.
The telephone came in the following colours: Black, Jade Green,
Ivory and Chinese red.
