SPECIAL RANGE TELEPHONE - PLESSEY MICKEY MOUSE
INTRODUCTION
This
THQ Circular announces the introduction of the Mickey Mouse Special Range telephone. It
will be manufactured, under licence from Walt Disney and supplied to the Post Office by
Plessey Telecommunications Ltd. For PO purposes the telephone will be known as the Plessey
Mickey Mouse telephone, a name which will be used on all advertising material, advice
notes etc and in all contacts with customers. The PO code for engineering purposes will be
Tele SR No. 1001.
There will be a phased introduction starting with the LTR in June, 1978 and leading to
national availability before the end of the year.
DESCRIPTION
The Plessey Mickey Mouse telephone is made of plastic and stands 420mm high from the
bottom of the brown base. It can be provided on DEL's Shared Service, plan 1A and plan 4
and switchboard extensions.
TARIFF AND INSURANCE VALUE
The tariff and insurance value for the Plessey Mickey Mouse are:
Rental £3, Per quarter
Single Payment Charge £45. This is unabatable.
These charges are additional to the connection and rental charges for exchange lines and
extensions with which the Plessey Mickey Mouse telephone is associated. A change of
instrument charge should also be raised where applicable.
Insurance value - £110
As with other charges these charges attract VAT at the standard rate.

PURCHASING LIMITS
Authority will be given by THQ to Areas, as availability of the telephone is extended to
exceed the A1035 local order for the purchase of Special Range telephones. The cost of a
new Plessey Mickey Mouse telephone from Plessey will be £54.64.
Notes:
The handset looks like a Handset No. 16 but is in fact slightly smaller. A Handset No. 16
cannot be substituted for the original as it is too big and will not be held by
Mickey's
hand.
The ringer is a tone ringer that is the same as the one fitted to the
Trimphone (Telephone No. 722).
The large white button to the left of the dial is a recall button used for transferring
calls on telephone systems.

This telephone is based on the Telephone Unit D93458. This is also
used on the Telephone No. 776 (Refer to diagram N876 for circuit details).
