Available in the USA during the 1970's where it was known as the "Design Line - Decorator Telephone" or  the "Cradlephone", this style of telephone was made available by BT in the UK from 1983 to 1986.

Available in gold plated trim, the range included Onyx, Craquele or wood finishes.

Part of the "Romantic Collection" the telephones were called Bel-Air (Lacquered), Caravelle (Beech wood), Versailles (Craquele with decorations) and Padua (Onyx).

The Caravel was made in Italy and assembled by A. P. Beeson in the UK for BT.  The phone had a standard Telephone No. 746 style circuit board fitted inside.
