CRANE, SELF-MOBILE (TAYLOR JUMBO 3 TON SLEWING)
Application
For general handling of heavy or bulky stores at depots or in the field. It may
also be used for pole erection or recovery work.
General description
The power unit is either a Ford or a BMC diesel engine mounted centrally on a
special chassis. The superstructure is of the articulated jib type mounted on a
slewing ring. The arc of slewing is limited to 2200. Normal road vehicle
controls are provided for road travel and the maximum legal road speed is 12
m.p.h. A P.T.O. is provided to a hydraulic pump for providing the hydraulic
power to operate all the crane motions. An auxiliary hydraulic system provides
for power assisted steering. An enlarged tool box is provided at the rear of the
vehicle to accommodate a lifting beam, a timber grab, a chain sling with claw
hooks and a chain sling 4ft. The cab accommodates the driver and one passenger.
The crane controls are operated from the driving seat. Three load hooks are
provided, one 3ton hook in fixed position, one 2ton hook capable of being
propelled along the front jib for a distance of 5 ft. approx., and one fixed
hook on end of jib for lifting a load of 17cwt.

(c) 1 ton at 17ft. 2in. radius - maximum height of hook 19ft. 9in.
(d) 17cwt. at 18ft. 8in. radius - maximum height of hook 22 ft. 6in.
