A handful of heavy duty Scammell rigid and articulated lorries joined the GPO fleet in the 1930s, including this rigid 6 wheeler capable of carrying a 13 ton load, although rated as a 12 tonner.  It is almost certainly fitted with Scammell`s own petrol engine, as denoted by the short bonnet, though a Gardner 6LW diesel was offered as an alternative from 1932.
