GPO Vehicles

A standard Morris 30 cwt (1.5tonnes) lorry with a canvas tilt cover used to take supplies to working parties on site.  The 30cwt Morris chassis was fitted with twin rear wheel, whereas the 1 ton model had single rear wheels.  Note the combination of electric head and side lights with oil or acetylene lamps mounted on the scuttle.  These extra lights were fitted to save exhausting the lorry battery if the vehicle had to stop on site for any length of time without the engine running.
