Platform Elevating No. 1 A new design of Platform Elevating No 1 has been introduced to provide an increase in load carrying capacity over earlier versions. The platform is now mounted on a Bedford CF 35 cwt chassis which gives ample room for storage of tools and stores and an increased working space on the open decking. Power for the platform is provided by a hydraulic pump driven by a power take-off from the vehicle's engine. Hydraulically operated stabiliser legs are provided on each side of the vehicle to give stability to the platform when in use. The platform is NOT suitable for use whilst the vehicle is moving and reference to prohibit the use of the platform in such situations together with full technical details of the unit is included in the TI (JB0037). Conversion training is necessary for all fully trained platform operators and this will he given to area nominees on request by the Regional Training College staff at Bletchley. |
