When Bedford stopped production of the HA van in 1982 the Ital was
purchased as it's replacement
for the years 1982-1984.
BT purchased 5,074 of the Ital 440 in 1982/1983 and 2,792 of the Ital 575 in
1984.
Powered by a 1.3 litre engine running on 2 star petrol.

Vehicle description
This is a standard production van, with a 1.3 litre petrol engine operating on 2
star fuel. It is provided with a strengthened safety screen to segregate the
tools and equipment from the driving compartment. Also included is a small first
aid kit and fire extinguisher. Fixed racks, suitable for the carriage of storage
bins, are provided along with a securing bracket for the drop wire dispenser,
and brackets for the carriage of step ladders.
The average mpg figure is approximately 25, and with a fuel
tank capacity of 11.5 gallons the range of the vehicle would be in the order of
280 miles.
Utilisation
This vehicle is generally suited for business occupations requiring maximum
mobility and for work occupying short periods on site. The vehicle is most
widely used on customer apparatus and line maintenance, and telephone fitting
work, but it is also used as a support vehicle to larger works.
