This instrument is used in places where the telephone wires are run on the
same poles as lines carrying high-tension currents. It should be fixed high up on the wall
as near the ceiling as possible. The receiver and transmitter are fitted at the end of
India rubber tubes, so that the users are thoroughly protected against any danger arising
from the high-tension currents. The automatic switch of the instrument is worked by a
pulley fixed to a cord, In the ringing position the pulley is secured oil a hook. There
are also special arrangements for working the generator.
