Type OB 110 Switches, Wall Pattern Metallic Circuit Local Battery System To be used in conjunction with any ordinary telephone instrument. The OB 110/10 is shown pictured to the right. Since these switchboards do not contain a generator or microphone, they must be combined with a telephone set. In the case of a signal coming from outside, the corresponding indicator flap and the bell of the switchboard operate. The operator lifts the flap, whereupon the bell stops ringing. One plug of a pair of cords is placed in the jack of the ringing line and the second plug of the pair placed in the operators jacket. The telephone set is thereby connected to the caller and operator receives notification of which line, the caller wants. The operator then moves the first mentioned plug to that jack, which corresponds to the desired line, and calls this by means of the telephone's generator. On answer, the calling party is connected to the desired line, whereby the plug, which is inserted in the operators jack, is transferred to the ringing line jack. When the call has ended and both parties hang up, the indicator flaps of both lines operate and the bell rings, after which the operator takes out the two plugs and restores the flaps. Should all the cords be busy with ongoing calls and an incoming call arrives, this can be answered by inserting the operators cord into the calling line jack.
On special order, at an increased price, these gears are made in walnut,
mahogany or teak.
