TELEPHONE No. 9

Originally called the "Telephone, Wall, C.B., Party Line" it was later renamed as the Telephone No. 9 circa 1911.

It was a wooden wall type C.B. party line telephone, consisting of an Induction Coil, Bell Ringer, Capacitor and 2400ohm Relay.

The relay is wired across the line and the bell is connected to one leg of the line and earth.

The exchange ringer is earthed and presented across the both legs of the line.  This presentation can be reversed depending on which number is called.   When ringing is applied, both party line telephone relays operate and they connect the bell of one phone to the A wire and the other to the B wire.  Dependent on the presentation of the ringing current only one bell will ring.

The phone is fitted with terminals which allow the bell to be wire linked to either the A or the B wire.
