TELEPHONE No. 57


Local Battery wooden wall telephone using a transmitter on a moveable arm.

Originally known as the "Instruments, Subscribers, Wall, Bristol Pattern" it was later renamed as the Telephone No. 57.

Made by Western Electric it was their Type 85 CB.  It has three terminals at the top of the wall board.

Used in the Bristol telephone exchange area only.

Fitted with a Receiver, Bell No. 1A and a Transmitter No. 13, which is fitted with a Mouthpiece No. 4.

Superseded by Telephones No. 1 and No. 101.

Mentioned in the 1913 and 1915 Rate Books, but not found in the 1928 Rate Book.
