When the GPO took over the NTC they
inherited all their equipment. Most NTC telephones were renamed as
"Instruments, Subscriber, Wall/Table, N.T. No. X. Many of these were made
obsolescent relatively quickly but some were also subsumed into the equivalent GPO
telephone numbered type, bypassing the "Instruments, Subscribers" stage.
This section is
built from the GPO Rate Books and NTL diagrams, with the
descriptions split into Table and Wall models. For clarity, NTL
telephones that did not fit the new GPO Rate Book descriptions have also
been added but no GPO title is shown.
Aligning descriptions with the
instrument pictures was also difficult as no definitive documents are
available. Corrections gratefully accepted.

instrument was connected to a Buzzer Case No. 1 or a Bell Case (S.L. 2).
